Come learn about the Massachusetts Cultural Data Project
Dear Colleague,
We invite you to a special preview of the Massachusetts Cultural Data Project (CDP), the first online financial management tool of its kind for arts and cultural organizations. At this preview for Berkshire County cultural organizations, you will learn how the CDP will benefit your organization and the cultural sector as a whole.
Presenters include: Marian Godfrey, Senior Director Culture Initiatives, The Pew Charitable Trusts; Anita Walker, Executive Director, Massachusetts Cultural Council
The Massachusetts CDP will provide a standardized online system for collecting historical financial and organizational data and will be used for grant applications to participating funders throughout Massachusetts. Organizations only need to complete a Data Profile (the online form used for collecting financial and other operational information) once each fiscal year.
The Massachusetts CDP will allow organizations to view reliable data about the cultural sector and enhance both the individual organizational capacity as well as the overall effectiveness of the nonprofit cultural community. The Massachusetts CDP will also provide the cultural community with consistent and comprehensive data on arts and culture in the state, enabling organizations to view trends in their data and benchmark themselves against peer organizations.
The CDP is a statewide collaborative effort and a unique partnership of public and private funders, including the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), the Barr Foundation, and the Boston Foundation. It is scheduled to launch in Massachusetts beginning in June, 2009. The CDP will be an integral part of the MCC’s new program of operating support for the state’s non-profit cultural sector. The MCC and CDP will host a series of more formal training sessions once the program goes live in June.
